The Malaysia-China Summit 2024 (MCS 2024), scheduled for 17-19 December, will see the dynamic participation of some 500 leading China companies eager to forge new trade and investment partnerships with their Malaysian and ASEAN counterparts.<\/span><\/p>

The summit, themed “Prosperity Beyond 50,” is structured around five pillars: Future Tech; Future Knowledge and Experience; Future Mobility and Connectivity; Future Opportunity, and Future Growth. It will feature a Leadership Conference and a multi-sectoral Trade and Investment Exposition, designed to strengthen economic cooperation and create synergies across the region.<\/span><\/p>

Through a strategic partnership with the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China (MAYCHAM China), these China companies will take centre stage, demonstrating their commitment to deepening ties with Malaysia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Loh Wee Keng, Chairman of MAYCHAM China, highlighted the diverse range of products and innovations the China companies will bring to the summit, stating, “They will showcase cutting-edge construction materials, hardware tools, and home d\u00e9cor at the Future Growth zone.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cAt the Future Mobility and Connectivity zone, there will be leading automotive, motorcycle, and bicycle companies. In the Future Tech zone, expect to be amazed by China\u2019s latest in appliances, electronics, robotics, and smart technologies.”<\/span><\/p>

Additionally, at the Future Knowledge & Experience zone, these China companies will present a vibrant array of products and services spanning culture, arts and crafts, education, sports, leisure, fashion, and lifestyle, reflecting the rich diversity and creativity of the industries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

China\u2019s participation will also feature a dedicated Electric Vehicle (EV) Forum, where industry leaders, policymakers, and experts will discuss breakthroughs in EV technology, regulatory developments, and sustainability challenges. This forum, held in partnership with China EV100, will be a key platform for advancing the EV agenda.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Loh remarked, “This forum will unite top players from China, international industry leaders, and China-based companies in Malaysia, including OEMs, commercial vehicle manufacturers, battery producers, and renewable energy firms.”<\/span><\/p>

H.E. Dato’ Norman Muhamad, Ambassador of Malaysia to the People\u2019s Republic of China, also expressed his enthusiasm. He said, \u201cWith participation from the large number of China companies, we are confident MCS 2024 will generate significant economic opportunities for Malaysian businesses, encouraging innovation and collaboration across various sectors,<\/span><\/p>

\u201cThe focus on new sectors such as EV and energy sector will also open new avenues for growth and solidify Malaysia\u2019s position as a leader in the region\u2019s transition to green technology. We look forward to witnessing the long-term trade, investments and partnerships that will arise from this summit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

According to MATRADE Trade Commissioner in Beijing, Mr. Niqman Rafaee M. Sahar, MCS 2024 also offers a great avenue for companies, including SMEs, to explore new areas of opportunities in China while highlighting their latest products and services.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u201cCompanies can take advantage of the big retail market in China with a market size of RMB47.1 trillion (about USD6.63 trillion) in 2023, and leverage the growing eCommerce market of over USD330 billion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u201cIn addition, participants can look forward to business meetings arranged between Malaysian and Chinese companies under MATRADE\u2019s International Sourcing Programme (INSP),\u201d he said, adding that China remains Malaysia\u2019s largest trading partner with total trade amounting to RM275.8 billion from January to July this year, a growth of 9.5% compared with the corresponding period last year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Mr. Richard Teo, Executive Chairman of Qube Integrated Malaysia, echoed this sentiment and emphasised the summit\u2019s strategic importance in unlocking new growth avenues. “The active participation from China and ASEAN countries will set the stage for a new era of economic cooperation,” he said.<\/span><\/p>

The summit will be held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) and supported by a network of strategic partners. The official media partners are Bernama, Star Media Group, and Sin Chew Daily, while AirAsia is the official airline partner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
